Terms & Conditions

The binding legal framework, assumption of high-altitude alpine risk, and expedition guidelines governing all League of Snow journeys.

Effective Date: October 17, 2026Protocol Revision: 3.2 (Alpine Standard)Jurisdiction: Global Alpine / India
Critical Warning: High-Altitude & Extreme Remote Travel

Participation in League of Snow expeditions involves travel into severe, isolated high-altitude environments, sub-zero arctic pack ice, and active volcanic corridors. Before committing to any expedition, you must thoroughly evaluate your physical readiness, understand the medical hazards of extreme elevation (including Acute Mountain Sickness, HAPE, and HACE), and review the mandatory emergency evacuation stipulations detailed below.

01

Acceptance of Terms & Participant Eligibility

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”, “Agreement”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“Explorer”, “Participant”, “Client”) and League of Snow Expeditions Ltd. (“League of Snow”, “we”, “our”, “us”). By submitting an expedition inquiry, placing an expedition deposit, or participating in any field movement organized by us, you unequivocally confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age (or accompanied by a legal guardian with certified parental consent);
  • You possess the legal authority, capacity, and autonomy to enter into this legally binding agreement;
  • All medical declarations, identity documents, and high-altitude experience logs provided to League of Snow are truthful, verifiable, and complete;
  • You accept full personal responsibility for comprehending and abiding by the physical demands, environmental hazards, and cultural codes of your selected destination.
02

Inherent Alpine, High-Altitude & Wilderness Risks

You explicitly acknowledge that mountaineering, high-altitude trekking (exceeding 3,000m / 9,800ft), polar ski traverses, glacier navigation, and apex wildlife tracking are inherently hazardous activities conducted far beyond immediate municipal emergency response infrastructure.

Acknowledged Environmental & Biological Hazards:

Hazards include, but are not limited to: Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE), High-Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE), frostbite, hypothermia, deep crevasse falls, active serac collapses, rockfall, avalanches, sudden blizzard conditions, extreme windchill (-40°C or below), wild animal interactions (polar bears, snow leopards, brown bears), altitude-induced hypoxia, and delays or failures in mechanical emergency helicopter evacuation due to weather.

By joining an expedition, you voluntarily, knowingly, and freely assume all risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the releasees or unforeseen geological and atmospheric events.

03

Medical Clearance, Physical Readiness & Telemetry

High-altitude performance demands cardiovascular conditioning, respiratory resilience, and psychological fortitude. Every participant must satisfy the following medical criteria prior to field departure:

  • Physician Medical Clearance: For any expedition ascending above 4,000m (13,123ft) or lasting over 7 days in polar wilderness, you must submit a certified League of Snow Medical Clearance Form signed by a licensed physician within 90 days of departure.
  • Full Preexisting Condition Disclosure: You must disclose all history of cardiac irregularities, respiratory illness (asthma, COPD), neurological disorders, severe allergies, and past episodes of altitude sickness. Concealment of medical conditions is grounds for immediate termination of your expedition without refund.
  • Mandatory Daily Pulse Oximetry & Telemetry: In the field, participants must submit to mandatory twice-daily resting oxygen saturation (SpO2) and heart-rate telemetry checks administered by our expedition medical officers. If resting SpO2 levels drop below established safety thresholds, the expedition leader reserves the sovereign authority to halt ascent or mandate immediate descent.
04

Mandatory Emergency Medical & Helicopter Evacuation Insurance

Participation in any League of Snow international or high-altitude expedition is contingent upon holding comprehensive emergency evacuation and extreme adventure travel insurance.

Minimum Mandatory Insurance Coverage Specifications:

  • High-altitude mountaineering & trekking coverage up to the maximum elevation of your itinerary (e.g. 6,000m+ for Nepal/Denali/Kilimanjaro);
  • Emergency helicopter rescue and search-and-rescue (SAR) coverage of not less than $250,000 USD;
  • Emergency medical repatriation, hospitalisation, and overseas medical expenses;
  • Recommended providers: Global Rescue, Ripcord Rescue Travel Insurance, or Redpoint Resolution.

Proof of valid insurance must be provided to League of Snow at least 30 days prior to departure. Failure to furnish active insurance proof will result in boarding refusal without refund.

05

Bookings, Deposits & Payment Schedules

Expedition places on League of Snow rosters are strictly capped (typically 6 to 10 explorers per team) to ensure elite safety ratios. To secure your roster allocation:

  • Deposit: A non-refundable booking deposit (typically 25% to 35% of total expedition tariff) is required at the time of confirmed booking to secure international park climbing permits, local Sherpa retainers, and helicopter charter slots.
  • Balance Payment: The remaining balance of the expedition tariff must be settled in full no later than 60 days prior to expedition departure (90 days for peak climbing and Arctic polar charters).
  • Currency & Bank Charges: All prices are quoted in USD or INR as indicated. Any incoming/outgoing wire transfer charges, conversion markups, or intermediary banking commissions are the sole responsibility of the participant.
06

Cancellations, Weather Interruptions & Force Majeure

Planetary expeditions operate at the mercy of raw weather patterns, volcanic seismic activity, glacial crevassing, and international border clearances.

  • Cancellation by Participant: Cancellations must be delivered in writing via email. Because national park permits, summit allocations, and air charters are prepaid and non-recoverable:
    • More than 90 days before departure: Loss of initial deposit only.
    • 60 to 90 days before departure: 50% refund of balance paid (excluding non-refundable deposit).
    • Fewer than 60 days before departure: 100% of expedition fees forfeited.
  • Weather Delays & Itinerary Alterations: Weather in the Himalayas, Alaska Range, and Arctic archipelago can strand flights or close passes for days. While we maintain reserve days in our planning, League of Snow is not financially liable for costs associated with weather-related delays, flight diversions, or early descents.
  • Force Majeure: In the event of armed conflict, border closures, sovereign travel bans, volcanic eruptions, or catastrophic natural disasters, League of Snow will endeavor to reschedule your spot or provide credit for future expeditions minus unrecoverable direct permit and logistics costs.
07

Expedition Leader Absolute Authority

The Lead Guide, Expedition Commander, and Chief High-Altitude Sherpa possess absolute, unchallengeable authority over all tactical, safety, and logistical decisions in the field.

If the Expedition Leader determines that a participant is physically incapacitated, suffering from progressive altitude illness, exhibiting hazardous behavior, or endangering the safety of themselves or the team, the leader has the full authority to order an immediate cessation of ascent, mandate retreat to lower elevation, or initiate emergency evacuation. The participant must comply without dispute. Any defiance of safety instructions releases League of Snow of all further duty of care.

08

Mandatory Technical Gear & Telemetry Compliance

You are responsible for bringing all mandatory personal protective equipment, extreme weather garments, thermal boots, and technical gear specified in the League of Snow Expedition Dossier.

All personal equipment is subject to mandatory inspection by our lead mountaineers prior to departure from base camp. If any piece of personal gear (such as crampons, boots, glacier glasses, or sleeping bag rating) is deemed defective, substandard, or dangerous for ambient temperatures, you will be required to rent or purchase certified replacements before being permitted onto the route.

09

Leave No Trace, Environmental Stewardship & Indigenous Respect

League of Snow operates under a strict Zero-Trace ecological charter. We hold immense reverence for sacred alpine summits, fragile arctic pack ice, and indigenous communities (including Sherpa, Ladakhi, Maasai, and Gaucho cultures).

  • Pack out all non-biodegradable waste, micro-plastics, and spent batteries;
  • Respect local religious customs, sacred shrines (chortens), and high monastery protocols;
  • Never harass, bait, or disrupt wildlife encounters; maintain certified stand-off distances at all times;
  • Treat all field support staff, porters, and kitchen crew with the highest human dignity, fair compensation, and mutual respect.
10

Media, Photography, Drones & Intellectual Property

League of Snow expedition leaders and official photographers capture media during field journeys for documentation, telemetry archives, and promotional publications.

By joining our expedition, you grant League of Snow a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use photographic and video materials containing your likeness for promotional, educational, and editorial purposes. If you require strict confidentiality or private identity protection, you must submit a written privacy request prior to deposit.

Drone Regulations: Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs / drones) are heavily restricted or prohibited in national parks such as Hemis, Sagarmatha, and Svalbard. Operating drones without official government defense/civil aviation permits is strictly forbidden.

11

Limitation of Liability, Release & Governing Law

To the maximum extent permissible under applicable law, League of Snow, its founders, directors, employees, contractors, high-altitude guides, and local logistics partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages, loss of enjoyment, emotional distress, bodily injury, illness, or death arising out of participation in any expedition.

This Agreement and all matters arising out of it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction of incorporation (India), without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal proceeding arising out of this Agreement shall be brought exclusively in the courts of Bengaluru / New Delhi, India.
